emids Selected to Present Educational Track Session at CHIME19 Fall CIO Forum

NASHVILLE, Nov. 5, 2019 – emids, a leader in digital engineering and transformation solutions to the healthcare industry, was selected to host a track session yesterday at the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Fall CIO Forum in Phoenix, AZ.

Established in 1992, CHIME is the professional organization for chief information officers and other senior healthcare IT leaders. CHIME enables its members and business partners to collaborate, exchange ideas, develop professionally and advocate the effective use of information management to improve the health and care throughout the communities they serve. The CHIME19 Fall CIO Forum is “the premier event for healthcare CIOs,” providing valuable educational programming tailored specifically to meet the needs of CIOs and other healthcare IT executives. Participants can also spend one-on-one time with colleagues to collaborate, exchange best practices, address professional development needs and strengthen partnerships with industry associations, government agencies and service firms that share a professional interest in improving the quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of healthcare.

The session “Data Governance and the Data and Information Lifecycle” was presented by Nicci Cosolo, Director, Solutions at emids and Keith Woeltje, MD, PhD, Vice President and CMIO at BJC HealthcCare, a 15-hospital health system headquartered in St. Louis. Their session focused on the widespread adoption of health IT tools such as EHRs to capture clinical and financial data to support care providers and operations. Cosolo and Woeltje examined the challenges numerous organizations face in explaining the need for a coordinated strategy, and the significant effort required to take data from raw collection to value and outcomes. Cosolo also discussed emids’ partnership with BJC, and the approach taken in the development of a data and information lifecycle model and a patient information flow model. This approach resulted in defining the data and information lifecycle, ultimately setting the stage to examine the outcomes of reinvigorating data governance efforts and the overall data enterprise strategy.

Says Woeltje, “The CHIME19 Fall CIO Forum was the ideal setting to educate those attending on a successful approach for describing and harnessing data as an asset. This resulted in ultimately learning how to apply specific tools and processes to bring what was once a vision into reality within our organization.”

Adds Cosolo, “Having the opportunity to present at the CHIME19 Fall CIO Forum and share the success of our partnership with BJC was a true honor. The comprehensive development of their enhanced lifecycle and work flow models is a true testament to the power of data governance to significantly strengthen and enhance an organization’s complete data ecosystem.”
