Last week, I attended the Health 2.0 conference in San Francisco. Its audience, comprised of leaders in both technology and the provider community gave me the perception that is Health 2.0... next-generation concepts of healthcare.
The ARRA 2009 provides substantial stimulus expenditures to the healthcare IT industry - $20 billion for the development and adoption of HIT. Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is the bread and butter concern of the health information technology marketplace.
Understanding the concept of "meaningful use" of EMR/EHR has become very important in healthcare administration because the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) mandates that hospitals and physicians should demonstrate meaningful use of EHRs to qualify for Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments. So, it makes sense for us to try to define exactly what consists of "meaningful use" of EMR/EHR products.
