Nashville, Tenn. (March 11, 2016)—emids, a provider of information technology services to the healthcare industry, hosted its Second Annual CXO Challenge at HIMSS16 in Las Vegas last week to serve as a meaningful example of how wearable technology is helping shape the healthcare landscape.
David Notari, CEO of Innovation Health, stepped up to the challenge wearing the Jawbone UP2 and hit 98,851 steps in just two-and-a-half days to win the challenge. To achieve the win, Notari had some great motivation.
“Almost two years ago, I had to have both of my knees replaced. As a dad, a husband and the CEO of a health plan, it was a major wake-up call that I needed to start putting my health first,” says David Notari, CEO at Innovation Health.
“Events like the CXO Challenge, and wearable technology in general, are great ways to push yourself to achieve a healthier, more active lifestyle,” says Notari. “Whether it is my daily workout at the gym or walking the halls at a conference between meetings, I try to find ways to stay active every day and I’m grateful for the motivation that challenges like this provide. Every step really does make a difference.”
The winner of the CXO Challenge receives $10,000 in charitable funds—$5,000 will be donated to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) in honor of Notari’s friend Steve Gebhardt. AFTD is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people affected by frontotemporal degeneration through research, awareness, support, education and advocacy.
“The Second Annual CXO Challenge at this year’s HIMSS Conference was a great success, and we are proud to sponsor the program,” said Saurabh Sinha, emids CEO and co-founder. “Wearable tech in healthcare will become even more integral in the coming years to improving patient engagement and population health, as well as lowering costs for providers and payers. emids is excited to play a role in helping the healthcare industry achieve these goals.”
Haden McWhorter, SVP, CTO at Premise Health came in second place with 71,020 steps, and third place went to Matt Hawkins, President of Sunquest Information Systems, with 68,155 steps. Congratulations to all who participated!
